Waiting for your first key.
The key is what your layout produces. The physical code identifies its position, so “a” can correctly appear with “KeyQ”.
This test shows events received by your browser. Some Fn keys and system shortcuts are handled by your device or operating system.

Try accents or an input method such as Chinese, Japanese, or Korean here.

How to test your keyboard in any layout
- Press any key or combination. Detected keys appear immediately and stay visible after release.
- Open the key details to compare the character, physical code, location, and modifiers.
- Use the text field for accents and input methods such as Chinese, Japanese, or Korean.
Does it support AZERTY, QWERTZ, Dvorak, and non-Latin keyboards?
Yes. The tester displays the keys reported by your browser rather than matching them to a fixed QWERTY diagram. This works with custom layouts and Unicode characters, including Arabic, Cyrillic, and other scripts. No country selection is required. If the browser omits a physical code, the reported label is still shown.
Why does a character have a different physical code?
The reported key reflects your active layout and modifiers. The physical code identifies a key position: an AZERTY keyboard can correctly report “a” with the code “KeyQ”. For Chinese, Japanese, Korean, or other input methods, use the text field to check the final text separately from individual key events.
Why are some keys or combinations missing?
The page shows events delivered to the browser. Fn keys and system shortcuts may be handled elsewhere. Text fields and page controls keep their normal behavior and are excluded from key testing. A missing event alone does not prove a broken key.
